Decorating the Christmas Tree in Fitzwilliam Square
The Fitzwilliam Square Association has kindly invited members of the Residents' Association to the decoration of their Christmas Tree in Fitzwilliam Square on Sunday next, December 15th, from 2.30 - 4.00 p.m. Mulled wine and minced pies will be served. All members are welcome and they especially welcome children to assist them in decorating the tree in preparation for santa.

Christmas on the Square
I have been asked by The Irish Architectural Archive to communicate the return of our pop up "Christmas on the Square".

The event is taking place between 10 am and 5 pm in the Irish Architectural Archive, 45 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 on Saturday, Nov. 30th.

Christmas on the Square is a great place to pick up Christmas Gifts created by Irish designers and craftspeople.

They will be serving mulled wine during the day and we are hoping for a visit from Santa himself who has promised to drop in and say hello!

Christmas Drinks
All residents are invited to McGrattan's Bar, Fitzwilliam Lane on Thursday, November 28th, from 8 p.m. for Christmas drinks. This will be an informal evening and an opportunity for neighbours to get to know one another in a convivial setting.

Music Event
One of our Committee Members, Elizabeth O'Brien whose father-in-law Vincent O'Brien trained John Count McCormack - one of the greatest singers of the 20th century - is giving a talk at the November meeting of The John McCormack Society with the title 'Vincent O'Brien: His Life, Career & Famous Pupils". Included among Vincent's other singing pupils will be James Joyce (the writer), Margaret Burke-Sheridan, Joseph Locke and Brendan O'Dowda. The talk will include recordings, photographs and other interesting material.

Members of the Residents' Association and guests are invited to the talk.

A walk is taking place this Sunday (May 19th) to raise awareness of this issue. It will be led by Councillor Paddy McCartan. Details are as follows:

Meeting to get informed on the BusConnects Project 13th May 2019
As you are probably aware a major transport infrastructural project, BusConnects is currently being planned for Dublin.

The Pembroke Road Residents Association kindly invites all members of our Association to a meeting to discuss the proposed BusConnects Core Corridor which passes through Pembroke Road and terminates on Baggot Street Lower. This is a project with a major impact on the area.

The meeting is taking place on Monday 13th May at 8.30pm in the Lansdowne Hotel, Pembroke Road, Dublin 4.

Details of the BusConnects Core Corridor (this is a large file).

Given the open invite, it would be great to see a well-attended meeting which should inform us of the main concerns about this proposed development and guide our submissions individually and as a collective.

Follow-up

Anna Devlin has prepared a short, comprehensive report on the Bus Connects project and its likely impact on Pembroke Road and Baggot Street Lower/Fitzwilliam Street.

The report is attached.

Submissions/objections to the proposed plan must be lodged with the NTA before the 31st May on www.busconnects.ie.
